Carson Sawyer, an eighth grader at Holy Name School, was selected to participate in the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Heartland Choir Festival on January 6th. Seventh and Eighth grade students from Nebraska schools can audition to participate in the choir. Only 100 students were chosen for this year’s festival. In preparation for the Festival, students were expected to learn their choral pieces on their respective voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). Carson is a bass, and learned five choral pieces to prepare for the event. The esteemed Vijay Singh, from Central Washington University, rehearsed and conducted the choir.
